# 1. Become OXU Developer

Join at today to become an OXU developer at: https\://developer.oten.live

**What you’ll do:** Register to become an application developer on the OXU Open Platform.

**Why it matters:**

**Account type will define scope of actions on our OXU Developer portal.**&#x20;

* **Organization Account:** Choose this option if you’re creating an account for a company or organization. You’ll need to verify your organization’s information.
* **Individual Account:** Choose this option if you’re creating an account for yourself and are not currently associated with any organization or company. For example, if you’re an independent developer, student, or hobbyist, you can still explore and build on OXU.

**Steps:**

1. On the OXU **Developer** page ([here](https://developer.oten.live/)), click **Sign In** to open the account registration page.
2. **If registering an Individual Account:**
   * Follow the steps to create an individual account on OXU IDP: [guide](https://support.oten.live/support/user-guide/oten-account-management-app/create-personal-account)
   * After successfully creating your account, review and accept the **Terms and Conditions** of the platform to become a verified developer on OXU.
3. **If registering an Organization Account:**
   * Follow the steps to create an organization account on OXU IDP: [guide](https://support.oten.live/support/user-guide/oten-account-management-app/create-business-account)
   * After successfully creating the account, assign roles to members within your workspace, granting them **Developer** permissions on OXU: [guide](https://support.oten.live/support/user-guide/oten-workspace-app/guide-to-manage-role-and-permissions)

**Common mistakes:**

* Developers may not fully understand the benefits of choosing between a **Personal** or **Business** account type when registering as a developer on the OXU Open Platform.

* You can use your existing Oten credentials to log in to the Developer Portal.
* If you forgot password, you can reset your password by click **“Forgot password”** on the login page, and follow the instructions sent to your registered email.
