# Welcome

**Oten Drive** is an end-to-end encrypted file vault. Your files — their contents, names, and folder structure — are encrypted on your device before anything is saved or synced. The cloud only ever stores scrambled ciphertext. **Not even Oten can read your files.**

Oten Drive gives you two ways to keep files:

* A **Drive** — everyday encrypted storage with a familiar file-and-folder experience, right inside Finder (macOS) or the Files app (iOS).
* A **Vault** — an advanced, security-first container that adds **Shadow Layers** for plausible deniability.

This handbook is concise and practical. Use the path that fits you:

* **New here?** Start with [What is Oten Drive](/drive-support/introduction/what-is-stealth-vault.md) and [Install & Onboarding](/drive-support/introduction/install-and-onboarding.md).
* **Want the core ideas fast?** Read [Concepts in 1 Minute](/drive-support/concepts-in-1-minute/drive-vs-vault.md).
* **Trying to get something done?** Jump to the [Playbooks](/drive-support/playbooks/create-a-new-vault.md).
* **Facing coercion or seizure risk?** Read [Shadow Layers](/drive-support/shadow-layers/how-shadow-layers-work.md).
* **Stuck or curious?** Check the [FAQ](/drive-support/faq/security-and-privacy.md).

> **The one idea to remember:** encryption and decryption happen only on your device. If you lose your passwords *and* your Recovery Keys, no one — including Oten — can get your files back. That trade-off is the point.

> **Availability:** Oten Drive is live on **macOS**. The **iOS** app is in final testing (TestFlight). Windows, Android, and a web client are not on the current roadmap.
